A Girl & Her Golf Club.

with one comment

Recently, Avery found herself with a golf course all to herself, whilst wearing her Belle nightgown and sparkly, gold shoes (long story).  Fortunately, she just so happened to have a tiny putter on hand.  You may think three-year-old golf is all fun and games, but she is serious business.

She approaches.  She hits.

A pause before evaluating her results.  Every good athlete knows that sometimes you just have to walk away.

Victory.  And celebration.

I hear Olympic golf is returning in 2016? Olympics 2024, here we come.  Fine, that might be a bit aggressive.  Olympics 2028?

These Girls.

I feel like perhaps I’ve been a little “why me” lately.  So tonight, instead of focusing on all the things I’m unhappy about, I’m focusing on all the things that are positive in my life.  And what better place to start than these two angels who turn into hams when the camera comes out.  What perfect, positive presences they are in my life.

Scenes From My iPhone.

Happy Friday, friends.  I hope you have plenty of sunshine and swimming pools in your weekend plans.  Here’s a wrap-up of our week via my iPhone pictures.  These pictures might make you wonder if Avery ever just wears  a complete outfit of regular clothes, as opposed to the various states of dress, undress and dress-up featured below.  What can I say?  Such is the life of a three-year old.  Happy weekend!

The Beginning Of An End Of An Era.

I took Claire to the doctor for her one-year checkup this week.  The doctor gave me some very grave news.  Since Claire’s one-month weigh-in, she has been in the 90th percentile for weight (and, ahem, 25th percentile for heighth).  For some inexplicable reason, I love this about Claire.  Perhaps it is symbolic of her chubby baby-ness that I know will soon start to sneakily fade away.  On this doctor’s visit, Claire had dropped to the 50th percentile.  Fortunately, she still looks chubby, so I am not in full grieving yet.  But the day that her chubby cheeks and fat rolls on the back of her knees go away, I might have a breakdown from chubbiness withdrawal.  Until that day, I am going to revel in her fatness.  So prepare yourself, friends, for lots of chubby cheek pictures (seriously, it’s probably creeping Claire out).  Starting today.

Here’s To You America.

We celebrated America’s independence the way I’ve celebrated it almost every year of my life – we headed to my hometown and had a parade at a community just outside of town with my extended family.  I’m not sure Claire embraced the parade spirit this year.  She was too young to be a rider, so she observed from the Baby Bjorn.  She did a lot of waving.  AJS, however, is fully appreciative of parades, although I perhaps should have explained the concept to her in more detail.  We rode in a, er, tastefully decorated pickup truck.  After the parade, Avery told me that next year she wanted to ride in a “real” float, not a truck.  I believe she was expecting something with water and literal floating.  Despite the shortcomings of our fake float, Avery did lots of waving, candy throwing, and by her own admission, candy eating.

We find that, when it comes to patriotic costumes, more is more, a la sequined visor, boa, and fan.

We come by this opinion naturally.  Here are my grandparents and all the great, greats.  Please note, grandparents embrace patriotic garb as well.  It’s genetic.

Did you think that my children would not be wearing matching red, white and blue outfits?  Do you know me at all?

The piece de la resistance, the aforementioned tastefully decorated float.  No, that’s not duct tape on the side.  I don’t know what you’re talking about.

So that was our Fourth in a nutshell.  One last Claire pic for good measure.
